I have never attempted to organize and run a talent show in one day. I did it today... and I have to say it went well. For a week of publicity and literally only meeting people and performers today, I would say it was a success. Call me a spotlight seeker but I like hosting almost as much as I like performing. Performance-wise, I would also have to say it went well for the first time on the guitar and vocals. It never ceases to surprise me how different I sound when other people hear me. I get to hear my voice every time I speak into a microphone and I always think, "man, I sound weird". But it went well. A little Jack's Mannequin, sent out, of course, to the one and only Courtney Plankton, who was in bed hacking up a lung or something.

I also went through the entire day thinking Janice's name was Alyssa. Good thing I never had to address her by name.

The weather outside is absolutely glorious. 15 degrees! It's a sign of good things to come.

Actually, things have been pretty good thus far. I've been to a large throng of birthday celebrations of late, including one at the QP and one at Chez Goulet. Both were fantastic and a good precursor to the talent show this Thursday I am helping to organize as well as a projected visit to 154 King Street this weekend.

I enjoy the busy life. I think I will attempt to continue it next year. Kevin Fernandes has offered to act a springboard for me since he has connections coming out the wazoo.

Actually, about the weather. I can't help remembering how it was about this temperature in Melbourne and I was freezing my ass off there. Temperature is relative.

So, I have finally caught up with the rest of the world and have seen The Notebook, based on the novel by that Nicholas Spark character. It was a solid film but nowhere near as tear-inducing as everyone kept telling me. If I had a dime for every time someone told me, "I don't care if you're a guy, you'll definitely cry during The Notebook"... and lo and behold, it was more like a comedy actually. I laughed heartily at several junctions. But definitely not bad. Mr. Spark is now 2 for 2 in terms of movies adopted from his novel, even though we all know how inextricably closely A Walk To Remember the movie followed the plot of its written counterpart...

This week has been a large week of birthday party celebrating.

2 weeks of school left. Serious huh?

A few days ago, I was in my sociology tutorial and a girl did her presentation. She spoke like every sentence/clause was a question. You know, where there's an upward inflection at the end of everything she said...

God, I wanted to kill myself. Is that so wrong?

Just when I thought Grant and Courtney could not possibly get any more similar, it turns out that she doesn't like eating beasts from the sea either.

Things are alright. I'm somewhat psyched about the summer job I have recently procured with definite assurance.

For some reason, it never ceases to impress me when someone ends anything with :) like they're deliberately letting you know they're smiling in your general direction.

On another note, I really don't like this change in Daylight Saving Time. What it essentially means is that we have 8 months of Daylight Saving Time and 4 months of standard. Note that there's a reason why the earth has TIME ZONES. 8 months of Daylight Saving Time might as well then be the standard time and we might as well just all get up and make our way East one time zone. This might not be a big deal for some people but it really fucks with my head when I imagine looking at the world as divided into 24th roughly equal pieces longitudinally. Now what does it mean when 2/3 of our year is actually spent in the wrong time? Imagine pushing Canada and Britain together and shrinking the Atlantic while ripping over the Pacific at the International Date Line.
